Pre Existing Medical Conditions

Banks have a duty to ask you about pre existing medical conditions when they sell you a PPI policy.  The reason for this is that in a PPI Policy - like most insurance policies - injuries caused by pre-existing medical conditions usually void the policy and stop it from paying out. 

This has not stopped banks in the past putting pressure on customers asking them the 'what if' question.  However ask anyone with a heart condition what would happen to their loved ones if they had a heart attack and this all changes.  If this has happened to you your bank has sold you a policy that doesn't cover your pre-existing medical condition it will never pay out and is useless.

Another important factor when considering being Insured against Long Term sickness is to analyse if you are already covered by another insurance policy.  This may seem trivial but actually there are a large portion of people who surprisingly are already covered and in some circumstances don't even realise it when they are offered a PPI policy.  Indeed many people are covered not by themselves but by their employer!
